Hmm, the entire case seems to be mostly leather. It does not really have a frame. However, it is possible that the very front of the case that fits over the front of the phone could be re-enforced with some sort of non-leather product. I can't tell for sure.
Also note that the portion of the case that fits over the side buttons is composed of some sort of metallic material.
Overall, the case is very well made and seems to be at least 99% leather 🙂

Well, since lather is what is produced by rubbing with soap, I think it's safe to say they're not made out of lather at all.
Vegan leather? That would quite a trick. Leather is specifically animal hide. There can never be such a thing as Vegan leather. It's either real, or imitation (vinyl, typically).
Anyway, part of Apple's description is, Made from specially tanned and finished leather.
That pretty much tells you it's genuine leather. Most likely cowhide.
